Diana to star in 'The Toxic Avenger' beginning Aug. 14

Diana announced via a MySpace bulletin that she will join the cast of the off-Broadway musical The Toxic Avenger in mid-August. The bulletin read in part:

I am sooooo excited to be a part of such a zany, outrageous, AWESOME show! As of right now, I am only a part of the show for three months; so I hope you all can make it out!

An article alerting the news that appeared on Playbill.com spelled out the specifics, saying Diana will play the role of a "sexy, blind librarian" named Sarah. In the article, Diana was quoted as saying:

"I am so excited to be coming back to New York to join the cast of The Toxic Avenger. When I saw the show, I laughed my head off. I can’t wait to start rehearsal – and to be blonde again!"

The article describes the show as being a "campy and gory rock musical" that centers around the lives of a "hero," his girlfriend, a corrupt New Jersey mayor and other zany characters. It runs at New World Stages in New York City.

Other cast members include Nick Cordero, Demond Green, Jonathan Root and Nancy Opel. The musical is based on the 1985 cult favorite film of the same name. Diana's engagement begins Fri., Aug. 14 and will last at least through November.
